Inspired by the ocean and wind currents characteristic of San Francisco’s Ingleside neighborhood, the gateway translates natural movement into built form. It becomes a dynamic transition point—both landmark and meeting place—anchoring the energy of this diverse, active community.

“Ingleside Gateway” is a ‘sister’ artwork to ‘Currents’, a wall sculpture located on the main wall of the adjoining Ingleside Library (see ‘Currents’ in the Public Art section).

As of May 2026, the gateway is temporarily de-installed to make way for construction of the Balboa Reservoir project.
