Antone Pavillion is a meeting place and gateway for residents of a new housing development on land that was once the home of local agrarian families. The pavilion recreates the footprint of the historic one room Antone School and mimics the steeply pitched roof of the schoolhouse that served children from 1912 to 1943. Like its companion installation Archaeology, this work is inspired by the agricultural history of Wallis Ranch and the tools and objects that were excavated from the site at the onset of development in 2016. The work’s sculptural panels incorporate abstract representations of artifacts while allowing light and air throughout the space.
