Archaeology is located in a new community development on land which was once the home of the Wallis family. The work is inspired by the agricultural history of Wallis Ranch and the tools and objects that were excavated from the site at the onset of development in 2016. Simple and ubiquitous farming tools, such as a hook, pulley, gear and horse shoe are transformed into massive sculptural forms and arranged in conversation with each other on a plinth. Archaeology honors and reminds viewers of the agrarian cultures and lands that preceded their new residential community and repurposes utilitarian tools into arresting and intriguing sculptural forms.
