The lesson of bamboo is that growth and change take time, especially in the beginning. Bambusa adds an apt metaphorical element to the central wall of the expansive and busy atrium of Chou Hall at the Haas School of Business. This wall mounted work evokes the elegant shapes of the bamboo tree and injects an engaging and monumental focal point to an otherwise bare expanse. In its academic setting, Bambusa acts as a powerful metaphor that is intended to inspire the hard working business school students who pass through the space each day. Made of hand- forged patinated steel and positioned several inches from and parallel to the wall, Bambusa casts intriguing shadows, creating the illusion of depth as the sun moves through the atrium of Chou Hall.
