The Animal Fence project demonstrates a seamless integration of infrastructure and public art, transforming a standard safety perimeter into an interactive neighborhood landmark. Stretching 165 linear feet around the Brentwood Civic Center playground, the structure utilizes a meandering, non-linear layout to soften the boundary of the play area and introduce a sense of playfulness and levity.

Integrated directly into the structural parameter are oversized, custom-fabricated steel silhouettes of regional wildlife—including a lizard, dragonfly, bird, and turtle. These figures curve fluidly through the fencing, engaging children and families while establishing a distinct, welcoming identity for the civic space.
