Stockton was a pivotal hub for agricultural machinery innovation in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and is often associated with the origins of what would become the Caterpillar tractor. Tools of the Trade, a series of sculptural panels for the Davis Road Bridge, pays tribute to this important chapter in Stockton’s history. At the center of each of the fourteen panels is a vintage iron component drawn from historic agricultural machinery, symbolizing the region’s industrial heritage.
