Mirassou celebrates the compelling history of wineries and winemaking in the San Jose area. Founded in 1854 by Louis and Pierre Pellier in San Jose’s Evergreen Valley, Mirassou Winery was the oldest winemaking family in the US. It is an icon of the agricultural heritage of Silicon Valley. The openwork, painted panels convey, with rich colors, the various stages of winemaking, from picking grapes to the wine press. As much as it is a work of art, Mirrasou also serves as a historical and educational marker, reminding residents and visitors of a rich part of San Jose’s past that would otherwise be lost to history.
