Tree of Knowledge depicts iconic genres of literature. The base of a tree reaches out from the central grid across the exterior walls of the library, evoking the expansion, deepening and growth that happens from reading a great work of literature. The sculpture is located at the main entrance to the Castro Valley Library. The grid that integrates these often archetypal symbols evokes a game board, an invitation for engagement and curiosity for viewers of all ages.
